Teen witnessed abduction attempt in Conroe, called 911

People living in two Conroe communities are stepping up to make sure their kids are safe after two abduction attempts in the area.

CONROE, Texas - People living in two Conroe communities are stepping up to make sure their kids are safe after investigators say a man tried to abduct two different teenage girls.

The most recent attempt happened early Tuesday morning while a 15-year-old girl was waiting at a bus stop near Brook Hollow Drive and Glen Forest Drive.

Fortunately for her, a friend who witnessed the scary incident intervened.

Second teen abduction attempt reported in Montgomery County

To protect her identity, we won’t be showing her face but the 16-year-old goes by the nickname Amber. She describes the moment she thought her friend was being taken.

“I was walking up to the bus with my sibling, that’s when I saw him do a U-turn. I saw his car door open and I saw him leaning down to say something, and her back up and say no, I don’t want, she just said no in general, and he grabbed her and threw her onto the ground,” said Amber.

Watching the struggle from a distance, Amber says she tried to help.

“I said loud enough for him to hear, 'I’m calling 911'.” It’s a move that may have saved the teenage girl.

“I was terrified, but I was more terrified for her,” she said.

Investigators believe the man who attacked her was driving a beige/tan 4-door sedan. He may have used the same car to try and lure another girl two weeks earlier.

That teen was walking to her friend’s house near Pine Acres Drive, when he allegedly offered her money to help fix his broken car but she walked away.

News of both incidents is now spreading among the two Conroe communities.

“It’s terrifying, but also it gives us an opportunity to pull together and watch over our kids,” said neighbor Michelle Teeters.

Residents have been alerting each other through social apps like Nextdoor. Also, deputies have increased patrols in the area as they search for the suspect.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office released a vague description of the suspect; he’s described as a dark-skinned male, between the ages of 30-40, 6 feet tall, around 200 pounds.

Anyone with information regarding this suspect or this crime is asked to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office 936-760-5800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP (7867) or Conroe ISD Police Department at 936-709-8911 and refer to case number # 17A343274.

Anyone can also anonymously report information to CISD’s KidChat hotline at 1-888-KidChat (543-2428).
