Suspects sought after homeowner injured in shooting, home invasion

Houston police are looking for several suspects in a north Houston home invasion Wednesday in which a homeowner was shot several times.

HOUSTON - Houston police are looking for several suspects in a north Houston home invasion Wednesday in which a homeowner was shot several times.

The home invasion happened northwest of Highway 59 and Beltway 8 on Truxton Street. Carlos Abrego lives next door and questions his own safety after the shooting.

“There’s a lot of nice people over here, so I hope they find the responsible guy,” Abrego said.

Police believe the homeowner was followed home after running errands or working around 9 a.m. Wednesday. A surveillance camera fixed on the driveway reveals a blue Dodge pickup up pulling into the driveway. Investigators are searching for four suspects in their mid- 20s who they believe were involved in the home invasion and shooting.

“At this point, we’ve got some good leads, and we’re working those leads as we speak,” said HPD’s Brian Outlaw.

Police discovered the blue pickup about a mile away from the shooting scene, abandoned near Highway 59 and Bender Road. Sources confirm the pickup was stolen from someone in Harris County earlier this week.

Now police are relying on home surveillance and community tips to find the men responsible. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (713)222-TIPS.
