Suspects on the run after jumping into N. Houston bayou to get away

HOUSTON -- Three suspects were on the run early Tuesday after crashing and jumping into a N. Houston bayou.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. when an officer with the Houston Police Department spotted a suspicious vehicle along Airline Drive.

The driver refused to stop and led police to Homestead at Tidwell where he crashed. Three people in the truck jumped into a nearby bayou and swam eastbound to get away.

Police searched for more than two hours but never found the men.

Police believe they may have been involved in a smash-and-grab at a fashion store on the northeast side.
