Suspected burglar leaves behind injured passenger after crash in Greater East End

HOUSTON -- Police said a suspected burglar crashed his pickup into a train crossing in the Greater East End, leaving behind his female passenger who was injured in the crash.

It happened around 1:30 a.m. on Canal near 65th Street, officers with the Houston Police Department said Friday.

Police responded to a burglary alarm in the area when the found the suspect crashed his Dodge pickup through the arms of a railroad crossing. The impact damaged the truck, so the suspect jumped out and ran.

In the vehicle was his female passenger, who suffered a broken leg and was taken to the hospital.

HPD said an investigation is still underway.
