Suspect arrested for allegedly hitting woman 4 times with car

HOUSTON - A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly hitting a woman multiple times with a car.

According to HPD, Rogelio Alberto Guardado, 69, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is accused of critically injuring 41-year-old San Juanita Herrera. She remains in critical condition.

The crime happened at the Long Drive Townhomes on Long Drive south of 610 on September 11.

Police say the man struck the woman and ran over her in his small pickup truck. He then allegedly backed over her and sped up to run over her again. In all, he ran over the woman at least four times before speeding from the scene, police say.

"He literally tried to kill her. He intentionally ran over her. Not once, not twice, not three times but four times. He literally tried to murder this woman," said Alean Driver, a witness.

Herrera’s son told KHOU 11 News that he was too distraught to talk about the attack that left his mother with broken bones all over her body. However, he said that he was confident that justice would be served.
