HOUSTON - Quanell X and the family of a teen robbery suspect who was fatally shot by police is asking for a federal investigation.

Four teenagers were accused of robbing a Jack in the Box last week in West Harris County. The four boys involved were 15, 16, 17 and 18 years old.

Police initially said they opened fire on the suspects because they fired first. On Tuesday, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said none of the boys shot at the officers.

Community activists are defending the suspects claiming officers had been watching the suspects from before they went into the Jack-in-the-Box off Highway-6.

Activists believe law enforcement officers waited for them to take the cash and then shot the teens, firing as many as 62 rounds.

"We want the DOJ to investigate whether deadly force was necessary," said Quanell X.
