Richmond PD: Woman dies after being shot during home invasion

Police are searching for two suspects after a 28-year-old woman was shot and killed during a home invasion Tuesday night.

RICHMOND, Texas – Police are searching for two suspects after a 28-year-old woman was shot and killed during a home invasion Tuesday night.

According to the Richmond Police Department, officers responded at 10 p.m. to a shooting call in the 500 block of Center Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Ashley Rodriguez, 28, was inside the residence sitting down with a gunshot wound. 

Rodriguez was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she later died from her injuries, police said.

A witness stated she and Rodriguez were sitting in the bedroom when two suspects entered the home asking for money. The suspects then allegedly began shooting, striking Rodriguez. 

Police said the first suspect was described as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, slender build, between 18 to 20 years of age, with shoulder length braided hair, wearing all black. The second suspect was described as a black male, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, skinny build, wearing a black hooded sweat shirt. 

Richmond police say they do have good leads in the case and that it appears that the victim and her killers may have known each other. 

The witness who was inside the room with Rodriguez was not injured during the incident, police said. The suspects were last seen running out of the residence in an unknown direction.

This case in still under investigation.
