Left-behind cell phone leads to arrest of robbery suspects

Two guys are accused of robbing a taxi driver in Friendswood, but one of them left behind a cell phone which led to their arrest.

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas- Two people are accused of robbing a taxi driver at knifepoint in Friendswood. One of the suspects left his cell phone behind in the cab, leading to their arrest. 

According to the Friendswood Police Department, the robbery took around 5:32 a.m. on May 6 at the intersection of Appleblossom and Townes Road. 

Officers discovered a cell phone in the back of the cab belonging to one of the suspects, 17-year-old Cody Nathanial Read. 

Police then went to Read's home where they found him and another suspect, 20-year-old Christian Chase Russell. They were both sleep upon arrival. 

Russell had just been released from jail two days before, according to police. He is serving 3 years probation for burglary. 

The suspect stole $51. 

Read has been charged with Aggravated Robbery. His bond was set at $30,000. Russell was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, a Class C misdemeanor.
