HPD: Woman killed while leaving for work

HOUSTON - Houston Police say a woman was fatally shot as she backed her vehicle out of her driveway to go to work early Tuesday.

Police say she was shot at 12103 Creekhurst Drive in southwest Houston at about 7:30 a.m.

On Wednesday, police identified the victim as Iris Valentina Teruel-Pineda, 22.

According to police, she and a co-worker were leaving the residence. As she was backing out, a male suspect approached their vehicle from the rear. He then walked up to the driver's side window and fatally shot Teruel-Pineda.

The co-worker was not injured.  

The suspect is described only as a male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
