HPD: Suspects leave empty-handed after smashing truck into store

HOUSTON – A group of suspected burglars left quite a mess after they smashed a pickup truck into a convenience store in northwest Houston Thursday morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, it happened at 4 a.m. at the Star Stop convenience store located at Highway 290 and Fairbanks N. Houston.

Investigators said that four males in a stolen white pickup truck, backed it up and smashed into the front of the store. The truck knocked over the ATM, which they had planned on taking.

However, the pickup truck got stuck, and the suspects could not move the truck nor the ATM machine, police said. The four males took off running to a waiting vehicle in a parking lot next door.

Police said they got away, but did not take anything. They will review surveillance video for more clues.
