HPD: Suspect arrested after short chase along N. Freeway

HOUSTON – A male suspect was arrested after a short police chase along the North Freeway overnight.

According to the Houston Police Department, it started at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday when an HPD unit attempted to stop a car for traffic violations at North Shepherd and the North Freeway.

However, the driver refused to stop and led police on a short chase heading south on the North Freeway feeder road, police said. The car chase came to an end at West Troy where he was pinned in.

Police said the suspect jumped out of the car and took off running on foot.

HPD set up a perimeter and a Harris County Precinct 1 deputy, who was assisting in the search, spotted the suspect and took him into custody.

Officers found heroin and methamphetamine in his car. The suspect faces felony evading charges and possession of a controlled substance.
