HPD: Officer relieved of duty after DWI arrest

A Houston police officer has been relieved of his duty following an arrest and charge of driving while intoxicated early Saturday morning, police said.

HOUSTON - A Houston police officer has been relieved of his duty following an arrest and charge of driving while intoxicated early Saturday morning, police said. 

According to the Houston Police Department, 27-year-old Ronald Gilbert was found around 12:40 a.m. passed out in his vehicle in the 15400 block of Galveston Road in Clear Lake. 

Gilbert was charged with a DWI. HPD said the officer had been relieved of his duty pending the outcome of an investigation. 

He was released from jail on a $500 bond.
