HPD: Man dies after being shot during robbery in west Houston parking lot

HOUSTON – Police are investigating the death of a man who they say died from a gunshot wound during a robbery Sunday morning in west Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, it happened just before 4 a.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 11800 block of Beechnut.

It all started when a resident of the apartment complex was awakened by a knock on his door, police said.

The resident said that there was an unknown male at the door who led him to the victim who was lying in the parking lot. The male told the resident that he and the victim had been robbed and then left the scene.

Investigators said the victim suffered a gunshot wound to his right arm and was then taken to Ben Taub Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
