HPD: Alarm spooks burglars during Walgreens break-in

HOUSTON – A pair of suspects got spooked after they set off an alarm while breaking into a Walgreens in northwest Houston Wednesday morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers were dispatched to at 4 a.m. to a burglary call after an alarm company said they could see a pair of burglars with crowbars on surveillance cameras at the pharmacy located in the 200 block of W. 20 Street near Yale.

Investigators said two male suspects used the crowbars to pry open the drop down gate and the front doors of the store to get into the business.

Once inside, the suspects busted a window inside that goes to the pharmacy itself. However, when they did, it set off a secondary loud alarm, which scare them off.

Police said the suspects appeared to be targeting drugs and narcotics, but it looks like they did not take anything.

They ran when the alarms went off, police said. They searched the area with a K-9 unit but were not able to find them.
