House fire possibly linked to homicide in Second Ward

HOUSTON- Arson investigators are looking into a house fire that happened early Saturday morning in Second Ward. Investigators believe the fire could be linked to a homicide that happened at the same home a year ago. 

According to the Houston Fire Department, they responded to the house fire at N. York Street and Canal Street around 3:00 a.m. They immediately found flames coming from a two story home. 

HFD got the fire under control before it spread.  There was a family of five home at the time, but everyone got out safely.  

According to HFD, the fire looks to have been started on the outside. A gas can placed below the fuse box. 

HFD Arson investigators are investigating the fire.  They are concerned the fire may be connected to a homicide that happened at the home a year ago.
