HOUSTON - A Houston firefighter is in jail for allegedly exchanging lewd photos with a 14-year-old girl in Iowa.

Ruperto Martinez Jr., 48, is charged with possession of child pornography.

The investigation started back in April when the sheriff’s office in Iowa City, Iowa contacted HPD about the photos.

A 14-year-old in Iowa City told deputies there she sent photos of her bare breasts to a men she met through KIK Messenger app. The detectives traced some of the user names back to Martinez in Houston.

Houston police first interviewed Martinez in June. They say he admitted he had been exchanging photos with the girl since 2014, when she would have been 12 or 13 years old. Martinez told detectives he thought she was about 17, according to court records.

Martinez admitted he asked the girl for nude photos and she complied. He then sent her photos of his genitals. One of those photos included the message, “It wants you,” according to records.

Martinez told investigators the girl was into role-playing and wanted to "play house." When she mentioned having a baby, he thought she "was weird."

Police say Martinez admitted he had exchanged lewd photos with other minor girls on the KIK app. He said he deleted the images because they were “too young.”

Police found several photos of nude girls on Martinez’s phone and he was arrested Thursday.
