HCSO: Man dies after shooting in NW Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Deputies are investigating a fatal shooting after a man was found outside of a northwest Harris County apartment complex overnight.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at 11 p.m. Wednesday to a call of shots fired near the Legacy at Champion Forest Apartments, located in the area of FM 1960 and Torrey Chase Boulevard.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a 39-year-old man in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

Deputies said he was transported to a local hospital, but later died.

Deputies talked to people in the area who said they saw two vehicles speed away after the gunshots. One was an early model silver Chevrolet Impala and the other was a dark-colored Dodge Charger with no tags.

Deputies said they do not have any suspect information at this time. However, there were security cameras in place, but they have not reviewed footage from them yet.

Several shots were fired in the parking lot with multiple casings found on the ground, deputies said.  They also found a handgun nearby, but it is not known if it belonged to the shooter.

Anyone with information is asked to call HCSO.
