HCSO: Drunk driver causes fiery crash, killing 1

An alleged drunk driver caused a fiery crash that killed a passenger in north Houston early Sunday morning, deputies said.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas- An alleged drunk driver caused a fiery crash that killed a passenger in north Houston early Saturday morning, deputies said. 

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. when a Ford mustang was traveling eastbound and stopped at a red light on Aldine Bender Road at Northgreen Boulevard. 

Deputies said while the car was stopped, the driver of a maroon Ford pickup truck rear-ended it. 

Upon impact, the mustang spun out of control and caught fire. 

There were two men inside the Mustang. The driver got out safely, but the passenger was trapped. He died at the scene, deputies confirmed. 

The pickup driver attempted to get away but crashed into a fence. The driver was found to be intoxicated and deputies arrested him. He wasn't injured and neither was the driver of the mustang. 

HCSO said the driver will face multiple charges including Intoxication Manslaughter.
