Gunman goes through back door, shoots workers at west Houston restaurant

HOUSTON -- Houston police investigators are looking for a gunman who shot three restaurant workers, killing one, late Wednesday.

It happened at the La Hacienda on Memorial at Thicket around 9:35 p.m., according to the Houston Police Department.

The gunman shot a worker outside the restaurant's backdoor. He then went inside and shot two more male employees in the kitchen area. The suspect then fled the scene.

One of the workers was shot in the chest and was sent to the hospital in critical condition. Another was shot in the head and was said to be in serious but stable condition. A third worker was shot in the leg and is expected to be okay. Their identities were not released.

One of them later died at the hospital, police said.

Police said it wasn't clear if the gunman was trying to rob the restaurant. An investigation is underway.
