HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office are investigating a pair of fatal shootings northeast of Houston.
The sheriff's office said the shootings apparently happened sometime during the day on Tuesday.
A man told investigators he left his home in the 14200 block of Alderson Street around 6:30 a.m. When he returned from work around 4 p.m., he found his girlfriend shot dead inside their home. The man went to his aunt's home nearby, and she called 911.
The man was reportedly good friends with his neighbor but couldn't get him to come to the door. Deputies arrived and looked through a window to find the neighbor had been fatally shot inside his home as well.
Authorities said there were no signs of a struggle in either shooting.
The victims were identified as Kathrine Gingrich, 26, and Johnny Holcomb, 33.
