Former Galveston ISD officer charged with sexual assault of a child

GALVESTON, Texas - A former Galveston ISD Police Officer has been charged with sexual assault of a child.

According to Galveston PD, Victor Cervantes, 30, was arrested Wednesday afternoon for several charges, including sexual assault of a child, two counts of improper educator-student relationship and online solicitation of a minor.

Police say that on October 20, officials at the Galveston ISD Police Department alerted Galveston PD that they believed that one of their officers was having an inappropriate relationship with one or more GISD students.

During an investigation, police discovered that over the previous year, Cervantes was allegedly engaged in sexual acts with one underage female student on two occasions and sent sexually explicit text messages to another.

Cervantes' bond has been set at $35,000.

The Galveston Police Department is asking anyone else that may have information concerning this offense or any other involving Cervantes to alert police.
