Family: Man accused in grandmother's death has drug problem

A Cypress man claims that his grandmother's death was an accident.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Family members are speaking out after a man has been accused of killing his own grandmother.

Nathan Billingsley, 21, is currently in jail on suicide watch. He is facing a murder charge.

Deputies were called to the 1700 block of Longwood Meadows Sunday by family members who said the victim's grandson had threatened to kill his grandmother. When family members could no longer get a hold of the woman, they called 911.

Deputies say the body of 67-year-old Hazel Billingsley was found wrapped in a blanket in the shed behind the home.

Relatives say Hazel loved her grandson and they blame his addiction for destroying his life and ending hers.

"It was like a rollercoaster with him, fine one week, messed up another week. It was all drugs," said Sunny Zamir, Nathan's uncle.

Billingsley is being held on a $200,000 bond.
