HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS - Harris County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested the man accused of fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian.

According to deputies, Fernando Padilla returned to the scene Monday evening after the crash that killed Francisco Fuentes-Escobar.

Padilla was allegedly behind the wheel of a 2003 Jeep Liberty traveling westbound in the 5000 block of Aldine Mail Route when he struck a pedestrian crossing the road. Deputies say Padilla sped away, and Fuentes-Escobar was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The suspect later returned to the scene. He was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid.
