Daughter charged in stabbing death of mother

A horrific attack and a shocking confession reveals the only suspect in a woman's brutal murder - her own daughter.

HOUSTON - A horrific attack and a shocking confession reveals the only suspect in a woman’s brutal murder – her own daughter.

Veronica Gonzalez, 32, has been charged with murder. Police allege Gonzalez used a kitchen knife to repeatedly stab her mother Virginia in the face and torso.
It happened sometime after 7 p.m. on Saturday night at the Royal Trailer Park at 5701 Airline Drive.
A security camera on the property captures Gonzalez walking away on foot.
Neighbors said the 32-year-old was barefoot and “covered in blood." One resident recalled her having “a glazed look in her eyes."

According to investigators, Gonzalez walked about five miles to a friend’s house.

That’s where she reportedly made the chilling confession.

“I was shocked,” said the friend, who didn’t want to use her name. “This is the devil’s work right here.”

The friend told KHOU 11 News that Gonzalez has been trying to get help for severe mental issues.

She said she and her family had no choice but turn in Gonzalez.

“I gave her a hug and told her I loved her and I was sorry,” the friend explained. “She has been battling this off and on. I just pray for her.”

Police quickly arrested Gonzalez for her mother’s murder.

She reportedly revealed a possible motive, but investigators were not ready to release that information on Sunday night.

“Why would you kill your mother?” said neighbor Maria Poole. “It’s so sad.”

The landlord at the Royal Trailer Park said Gonzalez and her mother had only been living in trailer 25 for about two months.

Neighbors described the two as being reclusive in the short time they had lived on the property.

Homicide detectives said the wounded body of Virginia Gonzalez, in her 50s, was discovered near the doorway of the residence.

Family friends left candles and flowers for Virginia on Sunday night. They said Virginia loved her daughter with all of her heart and would’ve done anything for her.
