Crash rips car in half, spurs power outage in Arlington

ARLINGTON — A crash that sparked a natural gas leak split a vehicle in half and knocked out power to about 1,700 customers.

Police say a young male driver somehow lost control in the 3400 block of Sublett Road near Park Springs and Calender Road just before midnight Monday. The vehicle was split in two, with the back half left feet away from the front.

Crews turned off power in the area as they worked to repair the gas leak.

The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities haven't released the identity of the driver and are investigating the cause of the crash.
