HOUSTON – A suspect driver was arrested following a chase that ended in a crash in northeast Houston overnight.
According to the Houston Police Department, it started at 11:45 p.m. Thursday when officers spotted a vehicle going 80 mph on Interstate 10.
HPD tried to stop the suspect driver, but the driver exited on Greg Street, police said. They pursued the driver for about 7 minutes around the lower Fifth Ward.
Police said the suspect crashed and ran into a ditch near Russell and Cavalcade. He is now in custody.
Driver had felony warrant out of Mississippi for possession of marijuana, police said. He also had brass knuckles in car.
Police said they also found several thousand dollars in cash in the vehicle.
Driver threw something out of the vehicle, but police said they haven’t found whatever it is yet.
Police said the suspect faces a felony evading in a vehicle charge.
