Carjacker crashes into innocent driver before getting away

HOUSTON – Police say a carjacker got away after crashing toward the end of a chase on the north side overnight.

Around midnight Monday a Houston Police officer spotted a stolen vehicle on W. Mount Houston at the North Freeway. The suspect refused to stop and went northbound to Richey and then Ella.

At one point the suspect struck another driver, but there were no injuries reported.

Near Kuykendahl the suspect hit a fire hydrant, bailed out of the vehicle and ran away.

Police say the vehicle was stolen at a car wash on Cypress Station earlier this month.
