HOUSTON – One suspect was arrested and another remains on the run after police say they caught them stealing car stereos from a west Houston neighborhood overnight.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers were dispatched at 1 a.m. Thursday to a call of two suspicious males lurking around cars on their street.
When HPD arrived, they spotted the two males, who then jumped in their pickup truck and took off. Police the suspect then led them on a short chase to the 7600 block of Belle Park Drive, where they came to a dead end.
HPD said the two suspects jumped out and fled on foot. One of the males was found hiding under a bayou bridge.
Police searched with a K-9 and helicopter for the other one, but he got away.
Officers said they found several car stereos in the suspects’ pickup truck. They had been breaking into cars and were taking the radios out.
No injuries were reported.
