BEAUMONT, Texas – A former music director of a Beaumont Methodist church has been charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child, according to a report by KMBT 12News.
Garrett Adam Kyler, 24, is facing two counts, one out of Rockwall County and a second out of Dallas County. The Texas Rangers arrested Kyler and booked him into the Jefferson County Jail. He was released after posting $100,000 bond on each charge.
Kyler is a former director of Worship and Technical Arts at Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont. Church members told 12News he worked there for about a year before resigning Tuesday.
The church's senior pastor, Robert Besser said:
"An accusation has been made by a lady in Dallas. I do not know her, never met her. I'm sure she is a very nice person. I can't imagine Garrett being friends with someone who isn't. I know the police are doing their job as well. Our entire church will continue to pray for him, pray for his family, the lady, and her family as well in Dallas."
