KHOU 11's Tim Wetzel reports from SW Houston

HOUSTON - The FBI is investigating a robbery and shooting outside a Target store in southwest Houston.

According to the FBI, it was about 3:25 p.m. Saturday when a man walked up to an armored car guard outside a busy Target store in the 8500 block of S. Main.

The man pushed the guard to the ground, shot him with a pistol and then grabbed a bag from the guard.

One witness spoke to KHOU 11 News but didn’t want her face shown. She says she watched as the suspect grabbed the guard’s bag and then took off. Meanwhile, nearby customers took cover.

She says the store’s manager attempted to help the injured guard.

“He went down and the he got back up, dragging his legs,” said the witness.

The suspect, who was wearing a red hoodie, jumped into a dark four-door sedan and sped away. The FBI says they are still looking for the robber and the person driving his getaway car.

“He just got in the car drove like nothing,” the witness told KHOU 11 News

The guard who was shot was taken to the hospital and at last check was expected to survive.

The FBI will review surveillance video for more clues.
