Amber Alert for 2-year-old Richmond boy canceled; suspect in custody

RICHMOND, Texas – Authorities issued an Amber Alert for a 2-year-old Richmond boy overnight.

Police said little Jasper Brashear was abducted from the 100 block of Houston Street in Richmond around 9 p.m. Thursday. Police said the abductors assaulted the boy's maternal grandmother before fleeing.

According to the Richmond Police Department, the primary suspects in the case were the child's father, Richard Brashear, and the child's grandmother, Sherry Vaughn Hall. The pair fled with the boy in a Volkswagen Passat.

Around 4 a.m. Friday officials sent out a notice that the Amber Alert was canceled and the father was in custody.

The child was reportedly found safe at his father's home in Chandler, Texas.

"This story has a happy ending, and we are just glad the boy was found safe," Sgt. Lowell Neinast said.
