Alvin ISD student arrested, charged with making terroristic threat after 'clown' posts

An Alvin ISD student has been arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat as a result of clown posts on social media.

Alvin ISD police on Friday arrested a junior high student they believe posted threatening messages under a “clown” profile. The student is facing a third-degree felony charge for making a terroristic threat.

“This behavior is extremely serious and has the potential to cause a significant disruption to our students and staff,” Alvin ISD officials said in a statement. “We urgently ask for your assistance in talking with your children about the serious nature of this type of online behavior. Our hope is that through a proactive partnership, students will be encouraged to make good decisions and avoid the potential of these consequences.”

District officials say the student will also face disciplinary action from the school.
