HOUSTON – Detectives are investigating the homicide of a woman whose body was discovered burning early Sunday morning in east Houston, police said.
According to the Houston Fire Department, at about 3:15 a.m. firefighters responded to a grass fire near Texas and York streets. When they arrived, firefighters found a woman’s body on fire with grass and shrubs around here.
Investigators with the Houston Police Department said that there are no known witnesses except for the man who was passing by and saw what he thought was just a grass fire. There was very little left of the body.
There were no items found around the area that would indicate what was used for the fire, investigators said. The body was too badly burned to immediately tell if the victim had some sort of trauma prior to the fire.
Investigators will have to wait for an autopsy before more can be know about what happened to the victim.
