HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound to her buttocks after deputies say a shootout occurred in the parking lot outside her apartment.

It happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday in the 5700 block of West Mount Houston Road, according to deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses said several shots were fired after a group of men got into a fight.

“I just got on the ground because I was scared,” one resident told KHOU 11 News. “It sounded like it was right by the window.”

One of the rounds pierced the wall of a nearby apartment, and deputies said a woman inside was shot in her rear as she relaxed on couch.

Deputies were told by witnesses that one of the men involved in the fight was shot as well, but he was gone when authorities arrived. No arrests were made.

The injured woman was sent to the hospital in stable condition.
