BELLAIRE, Texas—A family is so thankful their loved one is alive after a hit-and-run accident, but now they want the driver to come forward.
Kevin Wheeler was riding his 2014 Ducati motorcycle when he was hit by a black SUV. The driver of the vehicle stopped, but then took off.
It happened around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning as Wheeler was getting on Loop 610 North and getting off the Highway 59 south exit in Bellaire.
“I saw my husband flying through the air. There was a car that got in between us, I saw another car make that last minute crazy turn,” said Jackie Wheeler.
Wheeler’s wife said she’s usually right behind her husband when he is on his motorcycle. She said seeing her husband get hit devastated her.
“I put my car from 60 mph to park right away. I ran like a crazy woman. He was just spinning and spinning. He didn’t respond when I first got there. I thought this is it. He’s dead on the highway,” said Wheeler.
The family is thankful he’s OK, but they want the driver to come step up.
”He’s in a lot of pain, multiple fractures and thank God he had great gear on,” said Wheeler.
She said the driver of the black SUV has passenger side damage with red paint on it. Call Bellaire police with any information.
