KATY, Texas – A Katy woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she tried to hire a hit man to murder her husband. The problem for her was, the hit man was actually a police informant who turned her in to authorities. Police said Catherine Shamp approached the informant and told him she was interested in a murder-for-hire on Monday. The informant notified police, who then set up a sting operation. Police outfitted the informant with a recording device and scheduled a Tuesday meeting with Shamp. According to police, investigators then listened as Catherine Shamp offered $20,000 for the murder of her husband, 38-year-old David Shamp. Police moved in, and she was taken to the Harris County Jail and charged with solicitation for capital murder. Bail was set at $30,000.
