KATY, Texas – A Katy woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she tried to hire a hit man to murder her husband.

The problem for her was, the hit man was actually a police informant who turned her in to authorities.

Police said Catherine Shamp approached the informant and told him she was interested in a murder-for-hire on Monday.

The informant notified police, who then set up a sting operation.

Police outfitted the informant with a recording device and scheduled a Tuesday meeting with Shamp.

According to police, investigators then listened as Catherine Shamp offered $20,000 for the murder of her husband, 38-year-old David Shamp.

Police moved in, and she was taken to the Harris County Jail and charged with solicitation for capital murder.

Bail was set at $30,000.

Nope. No one's ever tried this before. No one's ever been caught. Idiot award of the day goes to this one. What? Never heard of "divorce"?

She should've used that money for some cosmetic surgery and a better hair color.

I read it and it said Harris. I'm not sure where you get Harric from stjakk.

She must have PEA brain!

Just looking at her picture gives a person the uncontrollable urge to spit on the sidewalk. They could not divorce because they would still be brother and sister. I sense another delete coming.

Ditto Daisy! How dumb can one be? And who wears that hair style anymore! lol

rotti_lover said on November 19, 2009 at 11:43 AM

May because you can't collect life insurance via a divorce. But I'm sooo glad she got caught. Put her away...

rouge-Why should he move away? She will probably be locked up in Henley unit for a while.

tinyfly said on November 19, 2009 at 12:46 PM

Can you imagine finding out your spouse wanted you taken out? I feel sorry for her husband. But at least he knows the truth about her, and can move on with his life.

Ha, loudogg and worldman...couldn't have said it better. Also, from a business perspective...divorce is way cheaper. Just call up that guy with the divorce van on Highway 6. Someone has been watching too many episodes of the Sopranos on stolen cable.
