HOUSTON—Two Westside High School seniors lost everything they had just a day before their prom.

The apartment belonging to Sidney Pritchett and Rodrick Trimont burned Thursday night at the complex on Hayes near Westheimer.

Trimont lived with Pritchett’s family.

The two consider themselves brothers.

The family of six got out quickly.

“Somebody was banging on the door,” Pritchett said.

Investigators said a man who was involved in an argument threw a molotov cocktail into one of the units.

The fire spread quickly.

The two brothers lost everything they owned, except the clothes they were wearing when they escaped.

“I didn’t know what was going on,” Pritchett said.

“We smelled smoke,” Trimont said.

The fire burned suits and shoes they had bought to wear for graduation from Westside High School in a couple of weeks.

However, the brothers were not letting the fire stop their plans to attend their prom on Saturday.

They were being fitted for tuxedos at a Men’s Wearhouse near their burned-out apartment Friday night.

“We gotta look good for prom,” Pritchett said smiling.

They are staying with relatives and are surrounded by people who want to help them get back on their feet.

Friends and teachers are planning to hold a fundraiser for the seniors who plan to attend college in the Fall.
