HARRIS COUNTY -- A homeowner helps Harris County Sheriff’s deputies catch a teenager trying to steal Christmas presents.
The homeowner told investigators he caught the teen stealing gifts from his wife’s car Tuesday evening in the 10300 block of Crimson Canyon in northwest Harris County. Officials said the vehicle was unlocked.
He followed the boy after he jumped in a white Chevy Tahoe with the presents. The homeowner was able to give authorities a partial license plate number.
The suspect’s vehicle description and license plate number was given other deputies. A short time later, a deputy stopped the vehicle with three suspects near Battlecreek and Millbrook.
Deputies said they found the gifts and other stolen property in the suspect’s vehicle. The items were returned to the owners.
The homeowner was able to make a positive identification and 17-year-old Guillermo Lozada was arrested and charged with burglary.
Police said another suspect, a juvenile, was also charged with burglary. The third suspect was not charged and was released.
