BLUM, Texas -- A 25-year-old West Texas woman faces charges of manslaughter after an Army soldier on leave from Iraq was found shot to death over the weekend.
Hill County Sheriff Jeffrey Lyons said 20-year-old Pvt. Cody Ryan Patterson suffered an apparent gunshot wound to his chest at a home in Blum, located about 40 miles north of Waco. He was pronounced dead early Saturday morning.
A Hill County jail spokesman says April Thompson, of Odessa, was charged with manslaughter Sunday after she was arrested in Glenrose, located about 30 miles west of Blum.
Her bond was set at $125,000. It wasn’t clear whether she had an attorney.
