HARRIS COUNTY - Authorities continue their search for an armed serial robber, who just walks into places with no disguise and robs the place and the patrons.
The Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force is looking for 38-year-old Vu Hoang Bui, who has local business owners and employees scared.
Craig Cohen, owner of the Legends Pool Hall in League City, said he scared knowing that Bui is creeping around and robbing pool halls and cafes in Galveston, Fort Bend and Harris counties.
Authorities said he even killed the pool hall owner at Cafe Chieu Tim on Antoine Drive on Feb. 8. Police are afraid he is not acting alone and they think he has a wing man.
“They order a couple of drinks, case the place. Once they felt comfortable and safe, they robbed the patrons inside including the bar owner,” J.C. Helton, with Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, said.
Helton is with the U.S. Marshals and he said Bui also tied up, robbed and beat the owner of Vu Bida Billiards on the 12000 block of Veterans Memorial on Jan. 24.
Police were able to link Bui to both crimes after they said he left evidence behind from the first murder. Helton said his sunglasses, keys and fingerprints were left on the pool table. Until police find Bui, they are sending out a message.
“These guys are very brazen,” Helton said. “They’ve escalated their violence. If there are any other patrons, they just need to abide by whatever they are asking.”
Bui is about 5 feet 8 inches tall. A witness told police he may have fled in a chocolate-colored Toyota Camry with tinted windows.
“I hope he gets caught, you’re going to get what’s coming to you,” Cohen said.
