HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A brother and sister are lucky to be alive after a minivan crashed into their living room and caught on fire Wednesday evening.
Both were looking out the living room window at their home on Ballardvale Lane and Whitinham Drive.
"Next thing I know, I blink my eyes for a millisecond and I'm running, fearing for my life and my sister's life and my dog's life," said 12-year old Joshua Stalbert.
Their mom got the call at work and was still shaking and crying when we talked to her.
"He could have took my babies lives," said Englisha Wells. "My babies are OK. That's all I can think about is my babies are OK."
Constables said that the driver was drunk when he slammed into a neighbor's SUV and tried to get away.
Daron Eubanks ran out to see some of the action.
"Saw him hit this vehicle and sat there for about 5 seconds reversed going about 80 miles an hour lost control of the vehicle here and skid out." Eubanks explained.
Another neighbor, Johnny Payton, was stunned to see the out of control van.
"By that time I came to the end of the street, I said are they shooting a movie or something," said Payton. "Because I'd never seen anything like this before."
The dog and Joshua are fine. Nia got a single scratch.
The driver of the van wasn't seriously injured either. We're told he lives in the neighborhood and is being charged with DWI.
