HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A sheriff’s deputy was involved in a crash while trying to take down a pair of suspects in a stolen car early Wednesday.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said it happened along Lauder Street on the northeast side of town.
A deputy said a vehicle ran a stop sign near the Eastex Freeway, and a brief chase ensued. The chase came to an end a few blocks away when the suspects went into a field at Homestead Road, spun out, and then went back into the road sideways, colliding with a deputy’s patrol car.
No injuries were reported, and the suspects were taken into custody.
Deputies said the vehicle the suspects crashed was stolen in a carjacking in High Meadows near Aldine Mail Route Road.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the two men apprehended Wednesday morning were the same ones who carried out the carjacking.
“It’s the same vehicle, but we have to get a positive ID on the suspects, and we haven’t done that yet,” said Deputy Wilkie.
