HOUSTON – A suspected car burglar was taken into custody after Houston police said they found him hiding in a neighborhood northeast of the Galleria.

Harris County constables were called to a possible vehicle burglary near San Felipe and the West Loop overnight Tuesday. They said they saw the man run east toward some homes on Suffolk Street.

Officers with the Houston Police Department responded with a few cruisers, a helicopter, and a K-9 unit to assist in the search. Eventually the man was located in a backyard, and he was taken into custody.

HPD said the suspect was bitten by the police dog and paramedics were called to the scene, but his injuries were not serious.

Police said he would likely face charges of burglary of a motor vehicle and evading arrest.
