HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Deputies searched Tuesday afternoon for an armed suspect who got away following a home invasion east of Katy.
It happened before noon in the 19300 block of Lazy Valley Drive, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The girlfriend of one of the residents said the men barged in with guns, tasers and knives.
“We heard voices saying, ‘HPD everybody just get on the floor,’” said the woman who didn’t want to be identified.”The guy that came in there was telling my boyfriend you need to give me all the money, give me all the money.”
She said the men ransacked the place and they meant business. The woman recalled what one of the men told her.
“He said he’s ‘shroomed’ out and um he just got out of the penitentiary and he’s not scared to go back,” she said.
The foursome managed to get away with cash, costume jewelry and cigarettes before one of the tenants ran out the back door and called 911.
The suspects jumped in a dark colored SUV, and a brief chase ensued.
They ditched their vehicle in a field and tried to run away on foot, said deputies. Deputies and deputy constables managed to catch four of the five suspects.
It’s not clear what role the fifth suspect played in the crime.
He was last seen near Fry Road and Westlake Place Drive.
The victim believes at least two of the suspects were juveniles.
