HOUSTON—Houston police are searching for a smash-and-grab suspect who struck a Verizon Wireless store on Highway 6 early Wednesday.
Police said a man used some sort of stick or bat to break the front glass window at the store in the 2600 block of Highway 6 near Westheimer around 3 a.m.
He grabbed as many cell phones and other items as he could carry, then fled the scene. The suspect cut himself on the glass and left a trail of blood behind him. K-9 units began to track the trail, but the suspect got away because he had a big head start.
The store did have surveillance video which was expected to be turned over to police.
