HOUSTON—A Houston man is accused of beating another man with a baseball bat and leaving him in the middle of an east Houston street. A car ran over the injured man lying in the road, killing him, according to Houston police.
Armando Vasquez-Martinez, 56, was charged with manslaughter.
Police said Vasquez-Martinez beat Antonio Salazar with a bat Wednesday around 10 p.m., then left him lying in the middle of Elysian and Harrington. A driver did not see Salazar lying in the road ran over him. Salazar died at the scene.
Martinez initially fled, but police eventually tracked him down.
Martinez’s bail was set at $100,000.
