HOUSTON – A suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a father, who was killed the day after Christmas in northeast Harris County, was arrested on Monday, police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, Brandon M. Jackson, 18, is charged with murder in the death of Ronalee Deandre McGuire, 35, who was shot and killed in front of his children on Dec. 26.
Investigators said the shooting happened at 2 a.m. in the 6000 Bobby Burns Street near Howton Street. McGuire got into an argument with his fiancé in a bedroom where his four children, ages 9 to 12, were sleeping.
Police believe the fiancée’s 19-year-old son came into the room and fatally shot the 35-year-old father.
The shooter and his mother then left the scene, police said.
Just hours before the shooting, McGuire and about 75 other people were at the home celebrating Christmas.
McGuire went to school at Texas Southern University and worked for Verizon wireless.
