HOUSTON—Surveillance video has been released in the death of a woman whose body was found behind a laundromat in northeast Houston on February 22.
Houston Fire Department firefighters responded to a grass fire in the 1900 block of Gano, near Lorraine, around 6:40 a.m. When they arrived, they extinguished a fire in the back of a vacant washateria. They initially thought it was just rubbish, but after extinguishing the fire, they found 40-year-old Angelica Garibay’s body beneath a piece of plywood. She was badly burned and pronounced dead at the scene. Her official cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Houston police released surveillance video of Garibay walking alone near the intersection of Chapman and Lorraine and then meeting up with an unknown male in the same area. Investigators believe Garibay had just left the “Castillos Bar” in the 1400 block of Lorraine.
