HOUSTON --  A student at the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts was shot early last Saturday morning in an armed robbery after a post-prom party.

Now police are searching for the two, possibly three, people who committed the crime as the victim’s classmates rally behind him.

Police said Dillon Glass, 17, left the after-prom party with a friend just before 4 a.m. last Saturday to take a walk.  As the two walked back to the party, two armed robbers approached them at Cornell and East 40 ½ streets in northwest Houston.

Police said when two the gunmen asked for Glass’ wallet, he responded he did not have one and a robber shot him in the abdomen.  The friend who was with him was not physically wounded after handing over his wallet.  The friend told police the two gunmen got into a waiting car and sped off.

Police said a parent from the house party responded quickly during the crisis and Glass was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

According to a note to parents from HSPVA’s principal, Glass is still hospitalized but has improved and no longer has a breathing tube.

Students, staff and teachers collected donations to show support for his family.

Glass is an accomplished actor and was nominated for a Tommy Tune award, which recognizes outstanding artistic high school performances. The classmate who was with him is an accomplished musician.
