HOUSTON—Homicide detectives are investigating after a storeowner was found shot to death inside his car in northeast Houston Thursday afternoon.
The victim, who had just bought his store last month, told his family that he was going to move his SUV to higher ground because the parking lot was getting flooded from morning and afternoon rainshowers.
That was the last time anyone had heard from him. He never answered his cell phone, which made his family worry. They began looking for him and found his SUV in a ditch on S. Hall near Homestead. He was dead behind the wheel.
“Very nice guy, very nice guy,” his friend said, puzzled as to why anyone would want to hurt the victim. “God knows, probably was after money.”
The shooting also angered residents. “Basically, the killing that’s going on between whoever needs to leave this area, namely Rosewood, take it somewhere else because we are not going to allow it anymore,’ said Barbara Hargrove.
